The latest Nobel prize in
The latest Nobel prize in physics honors Eric A. Cornell, Wolfgang Ketterle, and Carl E. Wieman for work with Bose-Einstein condensation in dilute gases of alkali atoms. What’s that? You don’t really know what Bose-Einstein condensation is? Take a look at the Bose-Einstein condensation homepage at the University of Colorado at Boulder. They have a really nifty site that explains how it works. The animations are high quality and work well to augment the explanation. They also use a cartoonish dialogue explanatory approach that, while it sounds lame to describe it, is I think very successful. The overall physics page for the university looks like it’s loaded with a bunch of other goodies I’ll have to check out later.

This is from Time magazine
This is from Time magazine in the moments just after the attack on the World Trade Center. That makes it old news by now, but Lance Morrow makes a impassioned Case for Rage and Retribution, a call for the kind of Old Testament wrath that it will take to fight an implacable foe.
