I’ve got another piece
I’ve got another piece posted on the Star Chamber front door:
Check it out: Lisa
Check it out: Lisa Whipple, a.k.a. our very own Damiana, got a piece published on McSweeney’s: A Brief Autobiography of Camille Paglia, as Told through Introductory Appositive Phrases In Her Online Column. Go girl!
Nice page with lots
Nice page with lots of information about The Gospel Of Thomas, one of the ancient Coptic texts found at Nag Hammadi. His disciples said to Him, “When will the Kingdom come?” Jesus said, “It will not come by waiting for it. It will not be a matter of saying ‘Here it is’ or ‘There it is.’ Rather, the Kingdom of the Father is spread out upon the earth, and men do not see it.”
Good stuff from Scott
Good stuff from Scott McCloud of “Understanding Comics” fame: I Can’t Stop Thinking! – #1 June 2000
This just in: Carnegie
This just in: Carnegie Mellon brain scientists find human brain applies law of least effort when solving problems. If you’ve been reading the Star Chamber, you knew it all along. This is exactly the topic of speculation in Yadda-Yadda-Yadda. Remember: you saw it all here first.
Speaking of Baron Samedi
Speaking of Baron Samedi (see previous post), it may interest long time readers of the Star Chamber that Mr. Saturday is based on the voodoo character Baron Samedi. He’s a mischief maker who deals in the world between the dead and the living. I love the fact that his job in the voodoo rituals is to disrupt the ritual itself.
California artist Josh Agle
California artist Josh Agle signs his name Shag and makes way-out artwork that recalls the hipster graphic style of 50s and 60s commercial art. Dig this image of voodoo bad guy Baron Samedi.
This is what convergence
Some time ago I
Some time ago I wrote a piece about mayonnaise scooping, which only today called forth an email from Brett, a real mayonnaise lover’s mayonnaise lover. Check out his mayo-centric site Oooh… What Sauce!
It reminded me of Paul Lukas’s Inconspicuous Consumption site and related Beer Frame zine, but of course its single-minded purpose distinguishes it. Remember mayonnaise = life.
